Character History

Through the end of Season 3, little has been revealed of Leena's personal history and her last name is unknown. It is implied, however, that she’s had a long time relationship with Mrs. Frederic. When Marcus Diamond threatens Leena’s life in the Season 3 finale “Stand”, Mrs. Frederic arrives just in time to thwart Leena’s murder. When Leena says to Mrs. Frederic “you never should have come,” Mrs. Frederic replies “I made you a promise a long time ago; I honor my commitments.” What was promised and when has yet to be revealed. Leena’s youthful appearance suggests the promise was made when she was a child, or perhaps Leena, like Mrs. Frederic, is older than she appears.

It is also suggested that Leena has had a working relationship with Artie Nielsen that long pre-dates the arrival of Agents Bering and Lattimer to Warehouse 13. How long she has known Artie is unrevealed, however Leena states that she was not around when Artie’s partnership with James MacPherson dissolved, an event that occurred 15 years earlier.[1]

It is unknown whether Leena is employed by Warehouse 13 or if she is simply an associate. She is not only privy to the secrets of the Warehouse, but she knows things about the Warehouse that not even Artie knows, and she is allowed access in the Warehouse files. It is likely that she is at least some minor form of personnel. Her Bed and Breakfast is possibly tied to the Warehouse and its operations too.

In the season one finale it is revealed that Leena is working with James MacPherson and covering her actions by posing as Claudia Donovan with the aid of Harriet Tubman's thimble. However, in the second season premiere, it is divulged that using an artifact called the Pearl of Wisdom MacPherson controlled her mind. When Mrs. Frederic realized that Leena was being controlled by MacPherson she removed the Pearl of Wisdom from Leena's mind. However, there was still some residual energy trapped in her brain that caused her to suffer from headaches and vertigo. Leena contacted Mrs. Frederic about the symptoms she was having, which caused Mrs. Frederic and The Regents to use an artifact to travel through Leena's subconscious and remove the remaining energy.

Skills and Abilities

Leena has some form of ability to read or sense auras and energy forces. She can sense whether something is living or not. She uses her aura-reading abilities on new artifact arrivals at the Warehouse. She apparently does this so that the energies of the artifacts do not react badly with each other and cause unwanted static build up that could harm agents. For example, when handling the arrival of the Honjo Masamune samurai sword, she went looking for an appropriate location within the warehouse to store it by wandering aisles, finally stopping at an apparently random location and stating "This feels right.".[1] Leena's authority over artifact placement is further demonstrated when Artie, while contemplating where to store Edgar Allen Poe artifacts, states “we'll stick them in, yeah, Madrid section, that is if Leena agrees.” [2]

Her aura-reading ability is also helpful in catching any potentially overactive objects that try to "escape" Warehouse confines, such as Harry Houdini's Wallet that she sensed in the B&B and recovered from its hiding place under Myka's bed.
